2019 Open Staff Positions
Mendocino Folklore Camp is a non-profit organization with a small but dedicated volunteer staff of people who work to create the magic that is enjoyed in the Mendocino Woodlands each year. While staff members are not paid, they do receive discounts for their service. The discount for each staff position depends on the position, but are generally half of the cost of camp. Kitchen Liaison
With a diverse population at camp, there are varied needs by campers in terms of dietary restrictions and allergies. The kitchen liaison plays a key role in tracking and communicating the needs of the campers to the kitchen staff. This positions requires tact, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
Pre-Camp-
Coordinate and communicate with registrar and chef concerning the dietary requirements of the campers as notated upon registration. Must attend a fall & spring planning meeting (via GoogleHangouts)
At-Camp-
Coordinate and communicate with registrar and chef concerning the dietary requirements of the campers at Camp. Field questions and concerns from campers and direct appropriate information to the kitchen staff. Coordinating and supervising volunteers who help serve the meals. Managing the place-settings and decorations in the dining hall.

Kafana Coordinator
Most nights of camp will consists of a late-night KAFANA: an after-hours venue of intimate cabaret-style performances. The kafana is free-form, but can include impromptu concerts, jam sessions, sing-alongs, card games, stories and dancing that goes late into the night.

Coordinate and communicate with campers about the Kafana and encourage them to come prepared to share talents. Must attend a fall & spring planning meeting (via GoogleHangouts)
At-Camp-
Coordinate performers for each night of the Kafana. Organize the set-up of the room, including moving tables, benches, and chairs. MC each night's Kafana by introducing each act and appropriately arousing or calming the audience. Help serve, track, and record drinks that are served. Be fun.
*note* Because of the nature of the position, applicants must be 21yrs or older.

Development Specialist
This is a new position created in 2018. The development specialist will oversee the fundraising efforts of Folklore Camp. The focus and scope of the position will be explored and may expand into advertising and marketing.

Coordinate all efforts of fundraising which may include exploring private and governmental grants, seeking private donors, creating advertising campaigns, and more. Must attend a fall & spring planning meeting (via GoogleHangouts)
At-Camp-
Connect with campers to follow up with fundraising efforts.

Videographer
This is a new position created in 2018. Folklore Camp would like to add another level of documentation by bringing in a videographer to Camp. The focus and scope of the position will be explored and may include creating short clips highlighting camp to shared online or making records of dances taught to be used as another fundraising tool.

At-Camp-
Film throughout the week collecting material for future Camp use.
Post-Camp-
