Linda DeNike - Morning Stretch & Folk Movement / International Crafts
Linda DeNike started dancing as a child, and danced professionally for almost 30 years with groups such as the AMAN International Folk Ensemble, Celtic Dance & Music Show, Renaissance and Dicken’s Faires and Patty Farber’s Baba Ganoush Dance Troupe. Linda is classically trained in ballet and competitive Scottish Highland Dance, and is a student and teacher of Meditation & Healing, Yoga, Qigong and Tai Chi.
After a 25 year break from dance, she now works with senior dance enthusiast in the San Francisco Bay Area teaching classes in Folk Dance and Dance Basics. Her classes are focused on developing and maintaining the flexibility, strength and agility needed not only for dance but for daily life as well. Nothing is more rewarding and self-satisfying than having a strong, agile body and being able to express oneself through the joy of movement. She says that is her motivation for dancing and teaching once again.
Linda’s Stretch, Alignment and Folk Movement warm-up classes will begin each morning at 8:15am for 40 minutes.
A note from Linda about her class;
I found that I had a personal need to be strong enough to handle my body in day-to-day life. I was under the illusion that my body was ailing from past injury instead of just becoming weak with non-use. I also became aware that the same movements that I used to become strong and agile in dance were the same that I could use to limber and strengthen an aging body.
To my amazement, and through exposure to oriental practices, I realized even old scar tissue could be broken down, joints strengthened and any general argument for keeping my ailments could be eliminated. For this same reason I invite you to come and ‘Dance To Your Health’ with me in the morning Stretch, Alignment and Folk Movement Class.
